She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry from Fort Hays State University (Hays, KS) in 2003 and a Doctorate in Optometry at Southern College of Optometry (Memphis, TN) in 2007. As a member of Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity, she spent time in El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, and Chile providing eye care to the under-served.
