We, at Blue Valley Vision, pride ourselves in using only top-quality materials and maintaining a broad selection of the latest and greatest frame models. We will assist you in finding frames that compliment your facial features and accentuate your appearance. Our range of lens materials and treatments allow us to customize your glasses to your unique lifestyle.

Lens Types:
Single vision lenses are for patients who only need one correction at a particular distance

Multifocal, or bifocal lenses are for patients who need two or more corrective powers in their lenses. Usually this is distance correction with a close up section in the bottom half of the lens.

Progressive lenses are for patients who need multifocal correction. These lenses do not have the obvious lines that you see in bifocals and are generally better for viewing computer screens.

Materials:
Polycarbonate was developed in the 70s and is used today for the space shuttle windshields and helmet visors. This material is impact-resistant and lightweight. This material is highly recommended for children as it will not shatter when dropped or struck.

Trivex is impact-resistant and lightweight like polycarbonate. But it is formed differently, maintaining crisper optics and truer colors for the viewer.

High Index materials are often used for high prescription glasses because the lenses can be crafted much thinner and lighter than their resin and glass cousins. This material is also impact-resistant

Basic Plastic, or CR-39 is the cheapest material for glasses but is not impact-resistant. This may be a material to consider for bed-side readers or a pair purchased for occasional use with contact lenses.

Treatments:
Scratch coatings do exactly what you’d think. They protect your lenses from scratches that can occur during normal use. This coating does not make the lens scratch-proof but helps a great deal with minor impacts.

AntiReflective (non-glare) coatings are useful in a number of situations. They reduce glare and reflections from computer screens, slick roads, windshields, camera flashes, and many other surfaces. This is great for the sight of the patient and also beneficial for anyone looking at the patients face.

Ultraviolet coatings reduce dangerous exposure to invisible UVA and UVB rays that can, over time, cause conditions such as cataracts and photokeratitis. UV coatings are highly recommended by our doctors.

Transition/Photochromic are great if you are looking for glasses that are clear inside but darken when you go out into sunlight. Most types of transition lenses do not darken in the car because the windshield blocks most of the UV rays that are necessary to activate the reaction. Ask your doctor about which coating might work well for you.

Polarized lenses are for sunglasses only. They are a great solution for reducing glare for outdoor enthusiasts. They will eliminate bright reflections from water surfaces, paved roadways and the golf green.

Tinting for sunglasses can be created in a variety of shades, hues, and effects. This can be anything from an opaque, mirrored lens to a light rose gradient for your readers.

Glasses are a great option for most patients. They are easy to wear and come in a multitude of styles that can suite any style and face. Please contact us if you have any questions about your options.
